Brandon Jenkins opens up on Mike Perry MMA win, Dillon Danis fight, and Nate Diaz callout after Duel Arena

Brandon Jenkins has expounded upon his victory over combat sports superstar Mike Perry in the inaugural Duel Arena event, which transpired at the Kia Center in Orlando on Saturday, August 29. 

"The Human Highlight Reel" also spoke about his past cancelled matchup against Dillon Danis, the latter's controversial withdrawal from the Perry fight at Duel Arena, and much more. 

Jenkins, in the aftermath of his win over Perry, has now issued a callout to another combat sports megastar in Nate Diaz.

Former UFC welterweight star and the BKFC's reigning King of Violence champion Mike Perry was booked to face BJJ extraordinaire Dillon Danis. Their welterweight (170-pound) MMA match was to headline the first Duel Arena hybrid combat sports card. Nevertheless, Danis's injury-induced fight-week withdrawal led to Brandon Jenkins being called in on short notice. 

The 34-year-old agreed to serve as the late-replacement fighter to face the dangerous Perry in the headlining match of Duel Arena 1, which also comprised boxing and kickboxing matches. The Perry-Jenkins MMA showdown was booked as a catchweight matchup. 

Many expected Perry -- who's beheld as one of the most popular fighters across multiple sports and a lethal striker -- to dominate his foe, who'd taken the fight on less than a week's notice. However, "Platinum" suffered a shoulder injury after a few fast-paced striking and grappling exchanges, particularly clinch work. Jenkins swiftly capitalized with body kicks and follow-up ground strikes to stop him via first-round TKO.

During a conversation with Mike Heck of MMA Fighting, Brandon Jenkins touched upon his big win over Mike Perry. He notably harked back to his previous MMA outing, which saw him defeat Chris Avila via split decision at the inaugural MVP MMA event back in May. 

The Syndicate MMA standout alluded to Avila being a friend and training partner of fellow UFC veteran Nate Diaz. On that note, Jenkins -- who's made a mark in the UFC, PFL, MVP MMA, and elsewhere -- called Diaz out. Incidentally, Diaz is coming off a TKO loss against Mike Perry on the same MVP MMA card Jenkins featured in. 

Jenkins stated, "I want the Nate Diaz fight. I beat up his best friend (Chris Avila). I hobbled him. I was like, 'Aren't you gonna fight me over your boy?' You know?" 

Indicating that he respects Perry and Diaz, Jenkins said, "I want the Nate Diaz fight. I want to share the ring with him. He is one of my favorite fighters, so is Mike Perry. Hopefully, I can get that one next." 

The veteran combatant also made an allusion to how he was set to face Dillon Danis in an MMA fight under the Misfits MMA banner in Qatar earlier this year. The geopolitical tensions in the Middle East -- stemming from the war between the U.S. and Israel on one hand and Iran on the other -- led to that fight being scrapped. 

Speaking of which, Jenkins appeared to concur with the opinion that it all panned out well for him, what with his replacing Danis and beating Perry here in August. Addressing "El Jefe," he said, "Thanks for never fighting me. And thanks for never fighting Mike Perry... I don't know. Thanks, bro (Dillon Danis)." 

As for Perry, fight fans have sent him their good wishes and prayers for his swift and safe recovery from the shoulder injury amid calls for his long-awaited BKFC return.
