Dillon Danis trades insults with Duel Arena, accused of substance abuse in pullout from Mike Perry MMA fight

Dillon Danis has found himself in a high-profile debacle in the aftermath of his much-discussed withdrawal from his MMA fight against Mike Perry. "El Jefe" has gotten into a war of words with Duel Arena.

The Mike Perry vs. Dillon Danis welterweight mixed martial arts clash was to headline the inaugural Duel Arena hybrid combat sports event at the Kia Center in Orlando on Saturday, August 29. However, Danis pulled out from the highly anticipated fight, later indicating that it was due to an injury to his arm. 

Danis and Perry appear to be at odds, trading jabs on social media and elsewhere. "Platinum" -- during the Duel Arena 1 pre-fight press conference -- strongly suggested that Danis's admitted injury-induced pullout was false, adding that he was simply afraid of fighting him. 

Furthermore, Perry confirmed that he'll be fighting Brandon Jenkins, who's a veteran of the PFL and last fought in MVP MMA. The Perry-Jenkins fight headlines Duel Arena 1 come August 29.

Dillon Danis is known to have made an impact in the BJJ realm as well as in the capacity of a grappling coach and training partner for combat sports megastar Conor McGregor. Nevertheless, many of his critics assert that he's been afflicted with injuries and that his combat sports career has been marred by inactivity over the past several years. 

Danis has also been accused of sparking brawls at combat sports events and miscellaneous social gatherings. Alternatively, his supporters affirm that his outspoken persona, which often brings backlash and irks people with differing views, results in people confronting him and his defending himself. 

Presently, a few images and videos of Danis are making the rounds online, with many netizens claiming that the white powdery substance seen in the same is a recreational drug that he allegedly used. Some have attributed his pullout from Duel Arena 1 to his supposed substance abuse. 

A representative of Duel Arena took to X to condemn Danis. They utilized a term that's a combination of a word used to describe drug addicts and another word that's considered a homophobic slur.

The official Duel Arena X handle put forth a post, with the following phrase seemingly spray-painted on Danis's image on the Duel Arena 1 poster. The phrase on the poster and Duel Arena's statement attached to the post read, "Junkie f*t @dillondanis." 

Capping off his response with an emoji, seemingly poking fun at Duel Arena, Danis wrote, "This is all you got, @duelarenax No wonder you can't sell anything." 

The Duel Arena X handle issued the following reaction, with an emoji mocking Danis's pullout, noting, "Your own mother arrived in Orlando to watch your fight, yet you didn't get on the plane." 

Moreover, the belief is that Danis is likely to provide an update on his injury, which seemed to be one on his arm, very soon. He's booked to return to freestyle wrestling on October 23, as he'll face UFC lightweight star Arman Tsarukyan for the inaugural RAF middleweight crossover title in the main event of RAF 14. The event was initially scheduled for October 3, but has been rebooked to go down on October 23, per the latest announcements from RAF.
