Caio Borralho accepts Khamzat Chimaev callout: "I'm ready"
The Brazilian middleweight responded after Chimaev named him as one of four potential opponents on social media.
Caio Borralho has accepted Khamzat Chimaev's challenge. Shortly after the Russian fighter took to social media saying he is ready to fight and calling out Borralho and three other top middleweight contenders, the Brazilian responded by accepting the matchup and suggesting it take place at UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden in November or UFC 335 at T-Mobile Arena in December.
Khamzat Chimaev Calls Out Four Middleweights
In May, Chimaev faced Sean Strickland for the middleweight title and suffered the first defeat of his professional career, snapping a 15-fight winning streak. Right after the loss, the Russian campaigned for an immediate rematch with Strickland. However, Chimaev has since widened his options as he looks to return to the Octagon. The Russian fighter took to X and posted that he is ready to compete again before calling out Borralho, Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis and Nassourdine Imavov.
Caio Borralho Accepts Challenge
Coming off a victory over Reinier de Ridder in March that returned him to the win column after suffering his first UFC defeat to Nassourdine Imavov in September of last year, Borralho quickly responded to Chimaev's callout. On the same platform, the Brazilian accepted the matchup and suggested two possible dates for the fight.
"Finally someone called my name! My brother u know I love you, and I'm ready MSG November or T Mobile December! Just let me know."
Recently, Borralho revealed that he is in the final stages of recovery following surgery for a rib injury and that he could start a training camp in the very near future. The Brazilian has also indicated that he wants to face a top-10 opponent and that UFC 334 in November at MSG would be the ideal scenario.
With both fighters expressing interest in the matchup, Borralho vs. Chimaev could emerge as an option for the UFC's middleweight division. However, no fight has been officially booked at this time.
