Dana White Wants NSAC to Stop Fining Fighters for Leaving the Cage
Dana White feels NSAC should stop penalizing the fighters for jumping the cage unless they are violent.
There are so many things that Dana White isnât happy about within the UFC, from the fighters' pound-for-pound rankings to the MMA media. Talking about the same, fans have often seen fighters jump the cage to meet their families, Dana White, Donald Trump, or other names sitting cageside while celebrating their victories. However, the NSAC argues that a fanâs reaction could instantly turn a celebration into chaos, so they penalize fighters for doing it. Now, White has shared his stance on the same issue.
Dana White Defends Fighters Over NSACâs Cage-Exit Penalties
After DWCS 10, Week 4, during the post-event press conference, the UFC boss was asked whether the NSAC had reached out to the company to make sure fighters donât leave the cage after a fight. As per him, the fighters spend months away from their families, cut weight, and prepare for their fights. Consequently, White feels that fighters shouldnât be stopped from jumping the cage unless itâs a case like Khabib Nurmagomedov jumping the cage and attacking Conor McGregorâs teammates.
White said, âWhen you're caught up in the moment, when you think about how hard they train, they're gone from their families, they cut weight, they do all this stuff, and then, they win, they're not thinking about fines or any of that stuff. What I think should happen is, if you jump out of the cage to do something violent or something, you know, then you should get fined, and you should be, you know, the perfect example is Khabib when he went after, you know, those types of things. But if you just get, you know, overly excited and you jump out of the cage, I don't think it's a big deal.â
For those who donât know, the NSAC is the group that makes sure professional fights in Nevada are safe and follow the rules. They give licenses to fighters, referees, judges, and promoters. They can also punish people with fines or suspensions if they break the rules, like missing weight, starting a fight after the fight, or jumping out of the cage. However, White doesnât want the commission to penalize these fighters unless they are violating the rules.
Dana White Reacts To Usman Nurmagomedov Nearly Hitting Song Yadong
Talking about last weekâs biggest moment, even UFC boss Dana White thought Usman Nurmagomedov went a little too far when he almost hit Song Yadong after the fight. White said Usman crossed the line by jumping into the cage. As per the UFC boss, âI think my thoughts were the same as everybody's. I mean, Song looked incredible and did what he needed to do in his home country. You couldn't have a better win than that. He definitely did (crossed the line). I would agree with that.â
Indeed, Usman later said he was not trying to hurt Yadong, and even the Chinese fighter agreed with him. This made it seem like people on the internet may have misunderstood what really happened.
