Ilia Topuria drops Serious Allegations on Justin Gaethje’s Dominant Win

Ilia Topuria is trying to put behind him his disappointing loss against Justin Gaethje. Trying to defend his title, Topuria was defeated badly by the ‘Highlight.’ In fact, the Spanish star was deemed medically unfit to continue past the third round. Now then, with news of Topuria making a comeback soon, ‘El Matador’ himself has brought a major accusation against the current lightweight star. 

In a recent statement on social media, Topuria hinted at Gaethje resorting to cheating methods. The former UFC two-division star said that one would need to check Gaethje’s gloves from next time to be absolutely sure everything was fair.

Topuria wrote, “Final medical tests done. I'm back. To all the clowns who've been talking shit and counting me out this whole time, here I am. Now let's see who's got the balls. Thanks to everyone for the support. Next time I'Il make sure they check Justin's gloves so he doesn't put anything weird on them. See you soon.”

Such an allegation can ruffle a lot of feathers within the UFC. Ahead of every bout, the UFC has dedicated personnel to check on the fighters. Before a fighter steps into the octagon, a proper check is conducted to make sure that the fighters are playing it right. Thus, such a statement from Topuria might have put the UFC’s methods under doubt. 

Will Ilia Topuria Get his Rematch Against Justin Gaethje?

The momentum for a Topuria vs. Gaethje rematch is getting stronger each day. But considering a lot of variables, there are still a lot of doubts about the outcome. Surely, the bout looks pretty interesting on paper. But when it comes to credibility, Topuria did fail to defend his belt. On the other hand, names like Arman Tsarukyan have long been waiting in the wings. 

Tsarukyan is riding on a long winning streak at the moment. And then there is Mauricio Ruffy. If the exciting Brazilian prospect manages to down Tsarukyan, then Topuria’s path to getting an immediate rematch will turn out to be a bit tough.
