Jean Silva set to face Yair Rodriguez in Noche UFC 4 main event

The Brazilian featherweight contender will face the former interim champion in the main event on September 12.
Noche UFC 4 has added a major featherweight matchup on its card. Jean Silva is set to face former interim champion Yair Rodriguez in the main event of the Sept. 12 card in Glendale, Arizona, according to a report by ESPN Brasil. The five-round bout will pit the No. 6 Silva against the No. 5 Rodriguez, with both fighters coming off victories and looking to capitalize on their momentum in the featherweight division. The UFC has yet to officially announce the matchup.
Jean Silva Gets Another Big Opportunity vs. Yair Rodriguez
Since making his UFC debut in January 2024, Silva has only lost once. The Brazilian won his first five UFC bouts, finishing every opponent along the way. His performances earned him two Performance of the Night bonuses and one Fight of the Night award before he suffered his first loss to Diego Lopes. After bouncing back with a win over Arnold Allen in his last appearance, Silva will now have another of the most important fights of his career.
Yair Rodriguez Returns After Lengthy Layoff
Following more than a year away from the Octagon, Rodriguez will be competing once again. In April last year, "El Pantera" defeated Patricio Pitbull by unanimous decision, returning to the win column after suffering two consecutive losses, including a title fight against Alexander Volkanovski. A victory over Silva would put the Mexican right back in the featherweight title picture.
A Major Matchup at the Top of the Division
With both fighters looking to move closer to another title opportunity, the five-round main event represents a major chance for Silva and Rodriguez. The matchup between the No. 5 and No. 6 contenders could have significant implications for the featherweight division, with the winner potentially positioning himself for an even bigger fight next.
