Cris Cyborg is hitting back at detractors who claim she's now in the twilight years of her career and that she's no longer the fighter she once was.

Cris Cyborg is not entertaining any talk about her being past her prime. She's on a lengthy win streak, a champion in both boxing and MMA, and believes that what her detractors perceive as aging is just experience.

Cris Cyborg dismisses talk about being 'old'

Before her last fight, Cris Cyborg had flirted with retirement. It was sensible. After all, she's 41 years old and has accomplished everything a women's MMA fighter could ever dream of. She has authored long unbeaten streaks, is the reigning PFL women's featherweight champion, an ex-PFL Super Fights women's featherweight champion, ex-Bellator women's featherweight champion, ex-Invicta FC featherweight champion, ex-Strikeforce women's featherweight champion, and, of course, an ex-UFC women's featherweight champion. She is the only fighter, man or woman, to have held world titles across five major promotions, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest WMMA fighters of all time.

Yet, it is also because of these accomplishments, which extend into boxing, where she is the WIBA light middleweight champion, that she has walked back on her previous retirement talk. She's undefeated as a professional boxer, with a 7-0 record, while on the MMA front her record sits at 30-2 (1), with a current 10-fight win streak. So, it's also easy to see why she disagrees with the sentiment that she's an old fighter. She's still beating her opponents and winning belts.

"I heard someone say I'm getting old, I'm not the fighter I once was... They would be correct. We call that experience, maturity. I haven't lost a fight in over 7 years. 18-0 combined boxing and MMA record."

Her claim of having an 18-0 run across both boxing and MMA stems from her one win as an exhibition boxer, combined with her seven wins in professional boxinng, and her current 10-fight win streak in MMA. Her next move remains ambiguous. She is coming off a successful PFL women's featherweight title defense at PFL Tampa, where she defeated former UFC women's bantamweight standout Ketlen Vieira via unanimous decision. However, it was the last fight on Cyborg's PFL contract, and there's been no news on whether she plans to re-sign with them or join Scott Coker's new MMA promotion.

There's also a boxing match with Claressa Shields, with whom she's been feuding for some time now, but that fight seems unlikely, as Shields has shown little interest in it. For now, Cyborg will enjoy her time off before returning with a definitive plan for her future.
