‘Rest in Peace, Allan Nascimento’: Fight Nation Mourns Sudden Passing of Former UFC Flyweight

Allan Nascimento passed away Monday morning.
Allan Nascimento was only 34, and for the people who trained with him, fought alongside him, and shared countless hours with him inside the gym, there was no easy way to prepare for the news that he was gone.
The former UFC flyweight died suddenly on Monday, leaving friends and teammates to mourn someone they knew as much more than a fighter. Nascimento, better known as “Puro Osso,” spent years building his life around MMA. Now, those who knew him best are left remembering the man beyond the fighter.
Details Regarding Allan Nascimento’s Death
According to multiple sources, Nascimento was found unresponsive on Monday, August 3, after suffering an apparent heart attack while asleep. The UFC confirmed the same, further stating that emergency medical personnel responded, but despite their efforts, Nascimento was pronounced dead at the scene.
The news was particularly difficult to digest given the flyweight’s age. He was only 34. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nascimento began his martial arts journey in Muay Thai before making his professional MMA debut in 2011.
He then quickly established himself on the Brazilian scene and eventually took his career overseas, competing in the United States and Japan.
Allan Nascimento: A Career That Was
In 2018, Nascimento appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series before making his way to the UFC. He ultimately went 4-2 inside the promotion and finished his professional career with a 22-7 record. For the unversed, submission was a major part of his game. 16 of his 22 professional victories came by way of submission. His final fight came in June against Mitch Raposo at UFC 279 in Las Vegas.
Nascimento lost the bout by split decision, thus bringing the curtain down on a career that had seen him compete against some of the best fighters in the world.
The UFC paid tribute to Nascimento following the news, describing him as a “skilled competitor and consummate professional” while extending its condolences to his family and close ones.
The MMA World Reacts to the News
Charles Oliveira’s reaction perhaps captured the sense of loss better than anything else. Oliveira and Nascimento were training partners, and the two were even scheduled to host a seminar together in Virginia this Saturday.
But as fate would have it, Oliveira was left mourning someone he considered a brother. “Today I lost a brother that fighting gave me,” the former lightweight champion wrote.
He went on to thank his fallen friend for all the time they spent together in training, in his corner, and simply hanging out away from the gym, “I love you, man. You were an incredible guy. I can’t believe it. You will be missed a lot.”
If anything, Nascimento wasn't simply another fighter who took up MMA as a hobby. He was part of the team around some of the sport's biggest names and had built genuine relationships during years spent in gyms and corners.
Other fighters also shared their grief. Cody Durden, who shared the cage with Nascimento, remembered him as a warrior, writing, “Rest in peace bro. It was an honor sharing the cage with you last year. You are a warrior.”
Renato Moicano also paid tribute, writing simply, “Rest in peace Alan Nascimento.” Former Cage Warriors champion Jake Hadley shared his own message, noting he was saddened by Nascimento’s passing and signing off with, “RIP brother until we meet again.”
Meanwhile, Dustin Poirier, McKenzie Dern, and Diego Lopes were among the other fighters to pay their respects as tributes continued to emerge from across the MMA community.
Nascimento’s gym, Chute Boxing, also remembered him not just as a fighter, but as “a warrior, a friend, a dedicated competitor, and an extraordinary human being.” That may ultimately be the most fitting way to remember him.
