Salahdine Parnasse sets sights on rapid UFC title shot after impressive debut
Salahdine Parnasse has outlined his ambitious UFC lightweight plans after his impressive debut against Dan Hooker, including his goal of quickly reaching the title picture.
Many consider Salahdine Parnasse the next big thing in the UFC lightweight division, with some even seeing him as a future champion. In his UFC debut in early September, he delivered a statement win over a veteran like Dan Hooker, needing just 2:35 of the first round to knock him out.
With the victory, he earned the No. 9 ranking in the lightweight division. He has already set his sights on UFC gold and believes it will happen more quickly than many expect.

Parnasse was recently interviewed by Clique TV, where he explained that his ultimate goal is not simply to become a top contender but to establish himself as the best fighter in the world.
“I aim to be the best fighter in the world,” Parnasse said.
The French contender was asked how long it would take him to become UFC champion. He said he is targeting a fight against a fourth- or fifth-ranked lightweight next, and he believes that if he can deliver another impressive performance, it could put him close to a 155-pound title shot.
“I think it can go very fast because already for my first fight, I enter the UFC at number 9... I hope to be number 5 or number 4 in the next fight, and who knows, if I perform well, why not a title fight,” Parnasse added.

Currently, Max Holloway and Paddy Pimblett hold the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively. Holloway has ruled out fighting this year and has said he wants to spend time away from the octagon, while Pimblett is eyeing a title shot or a fight against his rival Ilia Topuria.
That said, Parnasse has expressed his desire to face Holloway next.

In an appearance on 'The Ariel Helwani Show,' Parnasse, who called out Max Holloway in his octagon interview after his debut win, has doubled down on the callout and feels Holloway would be the perfect opponent.
“Look at my face. It’s clean. Tomorrow, I’m ready, ”Parnasse said. “Max Holloway would be the perfect fight. He likes challenges, and I think we could have a very good war together. I have a lot of respect for Max,” Parnasse told Helwani.
Meanwhile, Holloway has been out of action since his victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 329 and has ruled out fighting this year.
So, Parnasse will not get the opportunity to face Holloway this year. If he wants to fight one more time in 2026, he will likely get someone ranked from fifth to tenth in the lightweight division.
