Dana White has made a huge claim about Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes, calling the highly anticipated UFC 334 matchup potentially the greatest women’s fight ever.
Women's MMA has been making headlines this year; first, it was the fight between women's MMA pioneers Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano in May at MVP MMA 1, the headliner, which marked Rousey's return to MMA after 9.5 years of absence from the sport. She submitted Carano in just 17 seconds.
Now, another women's MMA legend, Amanda Nunes, is set to make her comeback after three years out of action. She is scheduled to take on Kayla Harrison in one of the most anticipated bouts in recent women's MMA history. It will go down at UFC 334. UFC CEO Dana White has weighed in on the matchup and shared what it means for women's MMA.
Dana White predicts Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes could become the greatest women’s fight ever
The pair was originally scheduled to meet in the co-main event of UFC 324 in January; however, the UFC women's bantamweight champion Harrison pulled out of the bout after suffering a neck injury. Now they will square off as co-headliners at UFC 334, which is set to take place at the iconic combat sports venue, Madison Square Garden, in New York.
UFC officially announced Nunes and Harrison for the American’s bantamweight title bout during the broadcast of UFC 331, which went down last night. Following the event, White was asked about his thoughts on the anticipated matchup. UFC CEO made a huge claim about what the fight could mean for women’s MMA, calling it potentially the greatest women's fight in the sport.
“Yeah, I'm very excited for that fight. It's gonna end up being the greatest women's fight ever in any f**king sport ever. But I'll be excited when they're standing in the octagon and it's it's it's you know. The ref says are you ready? Are you ready? Let's go,” White said

Harrison is one of the greatest female athletes of all time, and her accolades speak for themselves; she is an Olympic gold medalist, a former PFL undisputed champion, and now a reigning UFC women's bantamweight champion. The gold medalist brings lots of eyeballs when she steps into the octagon.
The same can be said for Nunes. Her fighting style has made her a fan favorite, and she is a former UFC two-division champion.
Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison finally set to settle their long-awaited fight
The matchup brings together two generations of elite female fighters, with Nunes looking to reclaim championship gold while Harrison aims to defend her title against the former two-division champion. Fans can expect fireworks when they throw down at UFC 334.
That said, Nunes last fought at UFC 289 back in Jun 2023, where she secured an unanimous decision victory. It's been more than three years, and ring rust could play a factor in her scheduled bout against Harrison.
Harrison was in action last year in June, submitting Julianna Pena in the second round to capture the bantamweight title. Following the win, she called out Nunes, who was in attendance, and the two faced off inside the Octagon.
Now, they will finally meet in the co-main event in a bout that promises fireworks.
