UFC 330 Co-Main Event Props to Watch

UFC 330 will be dominated by headlines of Islam Makhachev vs Ian Machado Garry in the main event as they go to battle for the welterweight title. The co-main event is just as intriguing, however.

Mackenzie Dern is set to make the first defence of her strawweight title when she takes on Canadian finishing machine, Gillian Robertson.

We take a look at some of the props to watch in the UFC 330 co-main event.

Mackenzie Dern to win via decision +150

The champion, Mackenzie Dern will head into Philadelphia full of confidence as she looks to welcome the first challenger to her belt. Having won the 115lbs back in October, Dern will look to return in a big way against Robertson.

Of her 16 wins, she’s never scored a knockout and has an equal number of submissions and decision victories at eight each.  

Robertson has a great ground game, extremely good submission defence and, although she may be easy to take down (boasting just a 38% takedown defence), when she’s on her back, she’s able to fend off any submission attempts.

Dern has more experience at the highest level and expect her to rise to the occasion when it comes to being the champion.

The champion to retain via decision could be a good bet.

She couldn’t, could she? The challenger, Gillian Robertson, is a phenomenal talent, especially in the grappling realm. She is the owner of most finishes in women’s flyweight history (7), of which six have come via submission. She’s recorded a career total of nine submissions, tapping out plenty of recognisable names.

She has also competed in plenty of submission grappling matches, notably submitting former champion, Rose Namajunas in 2022 via rear-naked choke.

If Dern isn’t careful on the ground, Robertson could lock up a submission, causing a huge upset in the process.

If Gillian Robertson doesn’t get the submission, there’s still a good chance she finishes it on the ground. The Canadian is slick on the floor and more often than not prioritises position over submission. 

What makes her so dangerous is when she postures up and begins to slash opponents with elbows and strikes from top position, rendering them unable to continue. 

The Savage lives up to her nickname when in top position and has finished Polyana Viana and Marina Rodriguez via strikes in recent fights.

 If she can get into a position on top of Mackenzie Dern in the UFC 330 co-main event, expect her to rain down viscous ground and pound, forcing Dern to either cover up or give up a compromising position.
