UFC 330 Capped with Thrilling Title Fights Saturday!

UFC 330 fight week continues. Saturday night, the fabled Octagon touches down in Philadelphia for the August UFC flagship event. Live coverage of UFC 330 begins in the late afternoon with the early prelims at 5:30 pm ET/ 2:30 pm PT.

Inside the United States of America, this portion of the show can be streamed as a live simulcast on both Paramount Plus and UFC Fight Pass. Late prelims follow at 7 pm ET/ 4 pm PT on Paramount Plus exclusively.

A five-fight main card caps the evening at 9 pm ET/ 6 pm PT on Paramount Plus. UFC 330 will not be simulcast on linear television by CBS. If there are no 11th-hour adjustments to be made to the schedule of activities, 12 fights take place in the City of Brotherly Love this third Saturday of August.

UFC 330 Main Event: UFC Welterweight Championship: Islam Makhachev vs. No. 1 Contender Ian Machado Garry: Makhachev Rejects Retirement Talk

At the top of the bill on Saturday night, the UFC Welterweight Championship is at stake in the UFC 330 main event. Current champion Islam Makhachev (28-1 MMA, 17-1 UFC) defends the belt at 170 for the first time when he fights challenger and No. 1 contender Ian Machado Garry (17-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC.) This championship fight, as well as the UFC 330 co-main event, will be an advertised five rounds at five minutes per round.

Makhachev, who can break the UFC record for longest winning streak with a victory on Saturday in UFC 330, has gone 5-0 in his last five fights and is the winner of 16 fights in a row. In November of last year, he trekked to Madison Square Garden in New York City to make the switch to 170 for a fight against Jack Della Maddalena (18-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC,) winning by unanimous decision.

In the run-up to UFC 330 this weekend, Islam Makhachev has had to clear the air on speculation that he might retire after Saturday night.

"You will see me many more times," Makhachev said in an interview with TMZ Sports.

With Makhachev putting speculation of a retirement to rest, he can now focus on what's most important: Defending the title.

Ian Machado Garry Keeping it Cool Ahead of UFC 330

Across the way, challenger Ian Machado Garry enters UFC 330 with a record of 4-1 in his last five fights. He's won two fights in a row.

On Nov. 22, during UFC Qatar, he scored a unanimous decision victory over Belal Muhammad (24-6, 1 NC MMA, 15-6, 1 NC UFC) after three rounds of action in the co-main event of the evening. In a recent interview with RTE Sport, Garry said he's remaining calm as the final days tick down before UFC 330.

"I have had to suppress my anticipation, my energy, and my excitement for a long time," he mentioned. "I think by Friday, I am going to be like a Duracell bunny."

UFC 330's main event is a high-stakes affair for Garry. A victory here will make him the second Irish UFC champion.

UFC 330 Co-Main Event: UFC Strawweight Championship: Mackenzie Dern vs. No. 5 Contender Gillian Robertson: Dern Looking to End Robertson's Winning Streak

Immediately beforehand is the first half of the championship doubleheader in the UFC 330 co-main event. Strawweight supremacy is at stake when incumbent titleholder Mackenzie Dern (16-5 MMA, 11-5 UFC) battles challenger and No. 5 contender Gillian Robertson (17-8 MMA, 14-6 UFC.) 

Mackenzie Dern will be making the walk on Saturday night having posted a 3-2 record in her last five outings. She's won three contests in succession ahead of UFC 330.

Back on Oct. 25 during UFC 321, she outpaced Virna Jandiroba (23-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) to earn a unanimous decision and capture the UFC Strawweight Championship. That defeat by Jandiroba snapped a five-fight winning streak.

Gillian Robertson also has a five-fight winning streak ahead of UFC 330 this week. One question remains: Can Mackenzie Dern put a halt to another opponent's five-fight winning streak?

Gillian Robertson Hungry to Win Inside the Distance

Meanwhile, Gillian Robertson enters UFC 330's co-main event looking to build off of a unanimous decision win in March of this year against Amanda Lemos (15-7-1 MMA, 9-7-1 UFC) inside Meta Apex. The March 14 fight was a rebooking of a canceled contest from Dec. 13 after Lemos was forced off of the card on fight day for medical reasons.

Numerically speaking, Gillian Robertson has won three fights by way of knockout. Prior to the fight, she mentioned to USA Today's MMA Junkie that she'd like to make it four knockout wins this weekend.

"I'll say third-round TKO," Robertson said. "I just feel like the belt's already mine."

UFC 330: Jalin Turner vs. Kaue Fernandes: Turner Searching for Second Straight Knockout Win

Also on the UFC 330 main card, fans will be treated to a lightweight contest matching Jalin Turner (15-9 MMA, 8-6 UFC) against Kaue Fernandes (11-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC.) This is a three-round fight at five minutes per round. 

Turner enters UFC 330 with a 2-3 record in his last five outings. Last time out, he scored a first-round knockout against Edson Barboza (24-14 MMA, 18-14 UFC) in December.

This was his first win, and first win by stoppage, since December of 2023. Can he score another knockout here?

Kaue Fernandes Returns After 11 1/2 Months Away

In the other corner, Kaue Fernandes owns a mark of 4-1 in the past five fights. Going into UFC 330, he's won three in a row.

He hasn't fought since Sept. 6 of last year, however. That night, in Paris, he stopped Harry Hardwick (13-5-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) with a calf kick inside the first round.

Two other fights round out the UFC 330 main card, a middleweight bout between Mansur Abdul-Malik (9-1-1 MMA, 3-1-1 UFC) and Dustin Stolzfus (16-8 MMA, 3-8 UFC) and a lightweight affair matching Edson Barboza (24-14 MMA, 18-14 UFC) against Esteban Ribovics (15-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC.)
