Cris Cyborg responds to Christine Ferea's BKFC callout

Cris Cyborg is not retired, and she wants to make that clear after getting called out by BKFC women's flyweight and Queen of Violence champion Christine Ferea. While bareknuckle boxing seems like a natural step for Cyborg due to her brutal, heavy-handed style, it doesn't seem to have sparked her interest much.

BKFC 92 took place this past weekend and hosted the return of UFC lightweight action fighter Joe Lauzon, who annihilated Stash Kuykendall with a second-round TKO at welterweight. However, another high-profile fight it featured was Christine Ferea's defense of her Queen of Violence title, which she retained with a second-round knockout of Sofia Landi at women's bantamweight. Following her emphatic win, Ferea used her post-fight interview to challenge the great Cris Cyborg to step into her world. The callout was, by no means, disrespectful, as Ferea praised Cyborg as the women's MMA GOAT, and simply expressed her desire to face a fighter she has looked up to for most of her career.

Unfortunately for Ferea, Cyborg seemed less than interested in BKFC, as the only thing she said in her initial response was clearing up Ferea's mistaken belief that she had retired.

"I never retired."

When a fan pressed Cyborg to answer the callout more directly, asking her if she'd welcome a fight with Ferea, Cyborg was dismissive.

"If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense."

It's not the response that Ferea was hoping for, but at this point in her career, Cyborg only seems interested in high-profile fights. She is open to facing bitter rival Ronda Rousey, with whom she has been feuding for years but never fought. Furthermore, after her successful PFL women's featherweight title defense against Ketlen Vieira at PFL Tampa, where she won via unanimous decision, Cyborg called out UFC women's bantamweight champion and ex-two-time PFL women's lightweight champion Kayla Harrison, who was in attendance, as well as women's boxing GOAT Claressa Shields.

It is unlikely she'll get either matchup, but with nothing left to prove in any combat sport, why not aim for the stars?
