Jake Paul is clearly taking his training for his upcoming fight with Anthony Joshua very seriously. He needs to; he’s got an uphill battle on his hands, both literally and figuratively. The fight goes down on December 19th from Miami and will take place at heavyweight, although Joshua will be limited to 245lbs, something that isn’t usually the case at heavyweight.

As for Joshua, we know that he isn’t going to train with Ben Davison for this camp but instead prepare with members of Oleksandr Usyk’s team. This is interesting as he’s previously fought Usyk on two occasions and lost on both. The former unified heavyweight champion, Joshua, confirmed that he hasn’t sparred Usyk himself, but the Ukrainian champion has been in and out of fight camp in recent times.

It’s Paul’s sparring partners that have raised eyebrows in the lead up to the fight.

Jake Paul Spars Huge Names Ahead of Joshua Clash

Posting on his Instagram story earlier this week, Jake Paul showed fans that he’s taking the fight extremely seriously with some of the sparring partners that he has got into his camp to help him prepare for AJ.

He posted a story with the caption ‘Good rounds today’, alongside top ranked heavyweights, Jared Anderson, Frank Sanchez and Lawrence Okolie.

Anderson is 18-1 with 15 knockouts. He’s ranked in the top 15 in three of the four organisations and, at just 26, is going to be around the upper echelons of heavyweight boxing for years to come.

Cuba’s Frank Sanchez is 25-1-0-1 with 18 knockouts. He, like Anderson, is ranked highly with a number of the top organisations.

Okolie is the interesting one. As a Brit, you would assume that he would be ‘Team Joshua’, however, he appears to have sided with Jake Paul. The former WBO cruiserweight champion is yet to make a splash at heavyweight, however, with an 82 1/2 inch reach and standing 6ft 5in tall, Okolie can help mimic the size of Joshua, who is 6ft 6in tall with an 82 inch reach.

It’s clear that Jake Paul is leaving no stone unturned ahead of the biggest and most dangerous fight of his life.
