The UFC brings the octagon to Austin, Texas this weekend as an exciting featherweight matchup headlines the card while MMASucka provides UFC on ESPN 37 Results. In that main event, top ten featherweights Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett face off.
UFC on ESPN 37 Results – Main Event
Coming into this fight, Calving Kattar has won three of his last four fights since the beginning of 2020. That year, he went 2-0, picking up a knockout win over Jeremy Stephens at UFC 249 followed by a unanimous decision win over Dan Ige in the main event of UFC on ESPN 13. In his only fight during 2021, Kattar faced the former featherweight champion Max Holloway in another main event at UFC on ABC 1. Kattar would end up losing that fight as Holloway won by unanimous decision.
In Kattar’s most recent outing, he bounced back from the loss to Holloway with a win in yet another main event. In his third straight main event, Kattar picked up a unanimous decision win over Giga Chikadze at UFC Vegas 46. Kattar will look to win his second consecutive fight and hold his position in the top four of the featherweight division.
Entering across the octagon from Kattar will be Josh Emmett, who comes into this fight with four straight wins behind him. This win streak started in 2019 when he finished Michael Johnson by knockout in the third round of their matchup at UFC on ESPN 2. Following that win, Emmett picked up another finish, defeating Mirsad Bektic by TKO in the first round of their meeting at UFC Fight Night 155.
Since then, Emmett has picked up back-t0-back unanimous decision wins over Shane Burgos at UFC on ESPN 11 followed by Dan Ige at UFC 269. Emmett looks to pick up his fifth straight win and lock up a position in the top five as he gets set to face Kattar on Saturday night.
UFC on ESPN 37 Results – Co-Main Event
In the co-main event will be a matchup in the lightweight division as two MMA veterans face each other. With 97 combined professional outings, Donald Cerrone and Joe Lauzon will face off at UFC on ESPN 37 before the featherweight main event.
As Cerrone enters this fight, he has not won a fight since he defeated Al Iaquinta by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Fight Night 151. Since then, “Cowboy” has fought six times, losing five of them and receiving a no contest in one. The first three losses were three straight TKO losses, losing to Tony Ferguson in round two at UFC 238 and then losing to both Justin Gaethje and Conor McGregor in round one.
Following those three losses, Cerrone would lose to Anthony Pettis by unanimous decision at UFC 249. After losing four straight, Cerrone went and fought to a draw with Niko Price at UFC Fight Night 178 that would eventually change to a no contest after Price tested positive for marijuana. Finally, in Cerrone’s most recent fight, he suffered his fifth loss in three years as Alex Morono finished him by TKO in round one of their meeting at UFC Vegas 26.
Lauzon will be entering the fight having been out of competition since 2019. Over the last five years or so, he has only fought five times. After a split decision win over Marcin Held at UFC Fight Night 103 in 2017, Lauzon went on to lose his next three straight. The first of those was a majority decision loss to Stevie Ray at UFC Fight Night 108 followed by back-to-back TKO losses to Clay Guida at UFC Fight Night 120 and Chris Gruetzemacher at UFC 223. In his most recent fight, Lauzon snapped the three fight losing streak by picking up a first round TKO win over Jonathan Pearce at UFC on ESPN 6.
UFC on ESPN 37 Results – Main Card
Kicking off Saturday night’s main card will be a fight in the middleweight division as Julian Marquez takes on Gregory Rodrigues. Marquez enters the fight on a two fight win streak following back-to-back submission wins over Maki Pitolo at UFC 258 followed by Sam Alvey at UFC Vegas 23. Rodrigues enters the fight coming off a split decision loss to Armen Petrosyan earlier this year at UFC Vegas 49.
Following that fight will be a lightweight matchup between Damir Ismagulov and Guram Kutateladze. Coming into this fight, Ismagulov brings with him his undefeated UFC record of 4-0. All four of his wins have come by way of unanimous decision as he has picked up wins in the UFC over Alex Gorgees, Joel Alvarez, Thiago Moises and Rafael Alves. As for Kutateladze, he will be coming off a successful UFC decision in which he defeated Mateusz Gamrot by split decision at UFC Fight Night 180 to improve his overall win streak to nine straight wins.
Another middleweight bout follows that one as the third fight sees Joaquin Buckley take on Albert Duraev. Buckley enters this fight on a two fight win streak consisting of a knockout win over Antonio Arroyo at UFC Vegas 37 followed by a split decision win over Abdul Razak Alhassan at UFC Vegas 48. Duraev will be entering the fight coming off a successful outing in his UFC debut in which he defeated Roman Kopylov by unanimous decision at UFC 267.
Finally, before the co-main event gets started there will be a welterweight fight between Tim Means and Kevin Holland. Means enters the fight on a three fight win streak with three straight wins by unanimous decision. The first of those wins was over Laureano Staropoli at UFC Fight Night 174 followed by a win over Mike Perry at UFC 255. Most recently, he defeated Nicolas Dalby by UD in their matchup at UFC Vegas 30. Holland enters this fight coming off a recent win after he dropped down to welterweight following years up at middleweight. In his first fight back at welterweight since 2017, he picked up a second round TKO win over Alex Oliveira at UFC 272.
