UFC Vegas 53 Results

A matchup in the bantamweight division serves as this week’s UFC main event while MMASucka provides UFC Vegas 53 Results throughout the day. In that main event, top-ten bantamweights Rob Font and Marlon Vera will collide in what should be an exciting matchup. Unfortunately for Font, he missed weight coming into this fight as he weighed in 2.5 pounds over the bantamweight limit. The fight will proceed as a catchweight fight with Font giving up 20 percent of his purse.

UFC Vegas 53 Results – Main Event

Since Rob Font made his UFC debut in 2014, he has been able to put together a record of 9-4 inside the octagon. Since the start of 2018, he has gone 5-2 as he picked up wins over Thomas Almeida and Sergio Pettis that year while also suffering from a loss to Raphael Assuncao.

His win against Pettis at UFC on FOX 31 happened after the loss to Assuncao and it would kick off what ended up being a four fight win streak. It took him about a year to return to the octagon after the win over Pettis as his next fight ended with him defeating Ricky Simon by unanimous decision for his second straight win at UFC on ESPN 7.

For his third straight win, Font picked up a finish in his next outing when he defeated Marlon Moraes by TKO in round one of their matchup at UFC Fight Night 183. For his fourth straight win, Font picked up a win over former UFC champion Cody Garbrandt by unanimous decision in Font’s first main event at UFC Vegas 27.

Unfortunately, Font will not be entering this fight with four straight wins behind him as he suffered a loss to former featherweight champion Jose Aldo by unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 44. He looks to bounce back with a win over Vera to inch his way closer to the top of the division.

Like Font, Vera made his UFC debut in 2014 as he has put together a record of 12-6 in the octagon. Since the beginning of 2020, Vera has gone 3-2, as he enters Saturday’s fight with two straight wins behind him. His first fight of 2020 ended up being a loss to Song Yadong by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 8. That loss snapped a five fight win streak that Vera was on since August 2018.

In his next fight, Vera picked up a big win as stopped the hype-train of Sean O’Malley by defeating him by TKO in the first round of their UFC 252 meeting. Following that win, Vera suffered another unanimous decision loss, this time against former featherweight champion Jose Aldo on the same night Font finished Moraes by TKO.

In his last two outings, Vera has put together back-to-back victories starting off with a unanimous decision win over Davey Grant at UFC Vegas 29 followed by a knockout win over former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 268. Vera looks to pick up his third win in a row as he hopes to crack the top five with a win over Font.

UFC Vegas 53 Results – Co-Main Event

UFC Vegas 52’s co-main event will feature a matchup in the heavyweight division as former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski faces off against Jake Collier. Arlovski has looked pretty good for being this late into his career as he has won six of his last eight outings.

After going winless for three-quarters of 2018 and part of 2019, Arlovski seemed to turn things around in 2019 after he defeated Ben Rothwell by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 4. He suffered a knockout loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik in his next outing which he bounced back from with back-to-back wins in his next two outings. Both those wins were unanimous decision victories as he defeated Phillipe Lins at UFC Fight Night 171 and Tanner Boser at UFC Vegas 13.

That two fight win streak was snapped in his next fight after Arlovski suffered a submission loss to rising contender Tom Aspinall at UFC Fight Night 185. Since then, Arlovski has been able to put together three straight wins starting off with back-to-back unanimous decision wins over Chase Sherman at UFC Vegas 24 and Carlos Felipe at UFC Vegas 40. Arlovski’s most recent win happened at UFC 271 where he defeated Jared Vanderaa by split decision.

As for Collier, since he made his UFC debut in 2014, he has alternated wins and losses ever since. He started his UFC career at middleweight and gradually made his way to the heavyweight division by 2020 as he went from middleweight to light heavyweight to heavyweight.

In his first fight at heavyweight, Collier suffered a TKO loss to Tom Aspinall in less than a minute at UFC on ESPN 14. Following that loss, Collier picked up a unanimous decision win over Gian Villante at UFC on ESPN 19. Another loss followed that fight as his next outing saw him lose to Carlos Felipe by split decision. In Collier most recent outing, he picked up a win against Chase Sherman as he submitted him in round one at UFC Vegas 46. Collier looks to win back-to-back fights in the UFC for the first time but he will need to get passed a tough test in Arlovski to do so.

UFC Vegas 53 Results – Main Card

Kicking off UFC Vegas 53’s main card will be a fight in the middleweight division as Krzysztof Jotko faces Gerlad Meerschaert. Jotko enters the fight with a 1-1 record in his last two outings as he picked up a split decision win over Misha Cirkunov at UFC Vegas 38 after suffering from a unanimous decision loss to Sean Strickland at UFC Vegas 25.

As for Meerschaert, he enters the fight on a three fight win streak as he has picked up three straight submission wins over Bartosz FabinskiMakhmud Muradov, and Dustin Stoltzfus.

Following that matchup will be a fight in the featherweight division between Darren Elkins and Tristen Connelly. Elkins enters the fight coming off a loss in his most recent outing. That loss snapped a two fight win streak of his as Cub Swanson finished him by TKO in round one of their UFC Vegas 45 meeting.

Connelly made his UFC debut in 2019 and has appeared in two fights since then, putting together a record of 1-1. He picked up a unanimous decision win in his debut over Michel Pereira at UFC Fight Night 158. Connelly suffered a loss in his next and most recent fight as Pat Sabatini defeated him by UD at UFC 261.

The third fight on the main card features a matchup at lightweight between Jared Gordon and Grant Dawson. Jared Gordon will be entering the fight on a three fight win streak. On that streak he has picked up UD wins over Chris Fishgold at UFC on ESPN 13 and Danny Chavez at UFC Fight Night 185. In his most recent fight, Gordon picked up a split decision win over Joe Solecki at UFC Vegas 38.

Dawson will be entering the fight as he has gone unbeaten during his UFC career. Dawson has not suffered a loss since 2016 when he was fighting outside of the UFC. After five straight wins to begin his UFC career, Dawson fought to a majority draw in his last fight against Ricky Glenn at UFC Vegas 41.

Finally, before the heavyweight c0-main event will be another featherweight matchup as Andre Fili takes on Joanderson Brito. Fili will be entering the fight coming off a loss and a no contest in his last two outings. The loss happened in 2020 at UFC Fight Night 181 where he lost to Bryce Mitchell by unanimous decision. His most recent fight at UFC Vegas 30 ended in a no contest after Fili landed an eye poke that left his opponent unable to continue.

Brito will be coming into the fight coming off an unsuccessful debut in his last outing. After earning his contract with the UFC on Dana White‘s Contender Series, Brito made his debut at UFC Vegas 46. Brito ended up losing that fight as his opponent, Bill Algeo, picked up the unanimous decision win.
