The UFC takes the octagon to Singapore this weekend with two title fights capping things off in the light heavyweight and women’s flyweight divisions while MMASucka provides live UFC 275 results. In the main event, newly crowned light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira looks to defend his title for the first time as he takes on Jiri Prochazka. In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko looks to defend her women’s flyweight title for the seventh consecutive time as she takes on Taila Santos.
UFC 275 Results – Main Event
When Glover Teixeira won the belt in October 2021, he became the oldest first-time champion at 42 years old. To get himself in line for a title shot, Teixeira had put together five straight wins leading up to the title fight. The win streak started in 2019 when he went 3-0 for the year with back-to-back submissions over Karl Roberson at UFC Fight Night 143 and Ion Cutelaba at UFC Fight Night 150. The third win that year was a split decision win over Nikita Krylov at UFC Fight Night 158.
In 2020, Teixeira went 2-0 with two more finishes over a couple of former title challengers. In the main event of UFC Fight Night 171, Teixeira finished Anthony Smith in the first round by TKO due to some relentless ground and pound. That win was followed by the win that granted Teixeira his title shot, a submission win over Thiago Santos in the third round of their main event meeting at UFC on ESPN 17.
Teixeira had once again fought his way to the top of the division, getting a title shot against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267. Unlike his first attempt at UFC gold, Teixeira came out on top this time and captured the belt with a second round submission win over the champ. Now, Teixeira hopes to hold off a scary contender in Jiri Prochazka in order to successfully defend his title for the first time.
Prochazka’s only had two appearances in the UFC coming into this fight. Before making his UFC debut in 2020, he had a long, successful career with Rizin FC in Japan. He became Rizin FC’s inaugural light heavyweight champion in 2019 with a third round TKO win over Muhammad Lawal at Rizin 15. After that, he picked up two straight first round knockout wins in a catchweight fight with Fabio Maldonado and title defense against CB Dolloway.
Prochazka made his UFC debut at UFC 251 as he faced off against former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir. He picked up his first UFC win by knocking Oezdemir out in the second round. After that fight, he appeared against a little less than a year later when he took on Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC Vegas 25. In that fight, Prochazka knocked Reyes out with a spinning elbow in the second round to secure himself the next title shot. Prochazka will be entering the fight with twelve straight wins behind him as he looks to become UFC champion in just his third fight with the promotion.
UFC 275 Results – Co-Main Event
Since Valentina Shevchenko dropped to the flyweight division after years spent at bantamweight, she has looked unstoppable. In her first fight back at 125 since seventh pro fight in 2006, Shevchenko dominated Priscila Cachoeira en route to a rear naked choke finish in the second round of their fight at UFC Fight Night 125. She won the belt in her next outing, defeating former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the vacant title by unanimous decision at UFC 231.
In her first title defense, Shevchenko finished Jessica Eye with a highlight reel headkick knockout in the second round of their meeting at UFC 238. Her second title defense was in the main event of UFC Fight Night 156 when she avenged a loss from 2007 against Liz Carmouche, defeating her by unanimous decision. The third title defense ended with another finish as Shevchenko defeated Katlyn Chookagian by TKO in the third round of their UFC 247 meeting.
In her fourth and fifth title defenses, Shevchenko picked up a unanimous decision win over Jennifer Maia at UFC 255 followed by a second round TKO finish over Jessica Andrade at UFC 261. Shevchenko’s sixth and most recent title defense occurred last September when she defeated Lauren Murphy by TKO in the fourth round of their fight at UFC 266.
Looking to spoil Shevchenko’s seventh title defense, Taila Santos looks to pull off a big upset and take the women’s flyweight title. She made her UFC debut 2019 after a successful outing on the Contender Series Brazil. Santos was unsuccessful in her UFC debut as she was beaten by Mara Romero Borella by split decision at UFC Fight Night 144. Since that loss, Santos has won her last four fights in a row starting off with a unanimous decision win over Molly McCann at UFC on ESPN 13.
Following that win, she won two more unanimous decisions back-to-back over Gillian Robertson at UFC Fight Night 183 and Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 266. In her most recent fight, Santos submitted Joanne Wood in the first round of their meeting at UFC Vegas 43 to lock up her shot at the title.
UFC 275 Results – Main Card
Kicking off UFC 275’s main card will be a welterweight fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Ramazan Emeev. Della Maddalena will be entering the fight with eleven straight wins behind him. He has not lost since dropping back-to-back fights to kick off his professional career. His most recent outing was his UFC debut where he defeated Pete Rodriguez by TKO in the first round at UFC 270.
As for Emeev, he finished 2021 off with a 1-1 record as he defeated David Zawada by split decision at UFC on ABC 1 to start the year. He ended the year on the wrong end of a split decision as he was defeated in his most recent fight at UFC Vegas 40 by Danny Roberts.
Following that fight will be another matchup in the welterweight division as Andre Fialho takes on Jake Matthews. Fialho will be entering the fight coming off two straight wins earlier this year. In April, Fialho finished Miguel Baeza by TKO in the first round of their meeting at UFC Vegas 51. One month later, Fialho finished Cameron VanCamp by knockout in the first round of their matchup at UFC 274.
In his third fight in three months, Fialho looks to pick up a third straight win against Matthews who will be entering the fight off a loss. In his only fight of 2021, Matthews suffered a submission loss to Sean Brady in round three of their fight at UFC 259.
Finally, before the title fights get started, the third fight on the main card will feature a matchup in the strawweight division. It will be a rematch of one of the best fights in the last five years as former strawweight champions Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk face off. They first met at UFC 248 in 2020 when Zhang held the title and went back and forth for the entire 25 minutes. When the winner was announced, Zhang had successfully defended her title, defeating Jedrzejczyk by split decision.
Since then, Zhang would lose the title to Rose Namajunas at UFC 261 and then suffer another loss to Namajunas in an immediate rematch at UFC 268. As for Jedrzejczyk, this will be her first time back in the octagon since their first fight at UFC 248.
