ADCC 2022 in Las Vegas will be a very important event for Andre Galvao. First, Brazilian will be acknowledged for his accomplishments in the grappling world, and after that, he will have a chance to prove his GOAT status as he faces Gordon Ryan in a very anticipated superfight.
Galvao was announced as a second inducte to the ADCC Hall of Fame. He has won the most titles in 23 years of competition history with six. He is the only competitor to win more than two superfights, and he holds that record with four superfight wins. He is also unbeaten in ADCC competition since 2009.
His bout against Ryan is the most anticipated bout in ADCC history, and numbers show it, with nearly 12,000 tickets being sold within the first 24 hours. That comes as no surprise, as the older of Ryan brothers is an accomplished grappler himself, as he’s three times ADCC World Champion. Both he and Galvao took part in an altercation after Who’s Number One grappling event, that resulted in Gordon slapping the Brazilian.
Galvao is also 5-2 as a mixed martial artist, recently signing to compete in ONE Championship. Although a debut is not set, it will have been over a decade since his last MMA bout whenever it comes. With Ryan and Marcus Buchecha also signed to the promotion, opportunities abound for the soon-to-be ADCC Hall of Famer.
